Skilled Workforce Attraction Office

The Skilled Workforce Attraction Office (SWAO) has been established under the Good people. Good jobs: Queensland Workforce Strategy 2022-2032 to promote Queensland as an attractive destination to live, work and play. 

The SWAO provides targeted assistance to support industry and the Queensland Government to:

    • advocate and coordinate Queensland’s interests in relation to skilled migration
    • educate employers on the value of a diverse workforce and the visa pathways
    • position Queensland as a destination to live and work
    • support the delivery of campaigns that promote Queensland as a destination to attract critically needed skilled workers
    • deliver enhanced promotional activities, and a coordinated approach to state sponsored migration in Queensland.

The SWAO has a focus on supporting Queensland’s priority workforce needs, through strategies and initiatives such as: 

    • Queensland Energy and Jobs Plan
    • Queensland's Clean Energy Workforce Roadmap
    • Hydrogen Industry Workforce Development Roadmap 2022–2032
    • Health Workforce Strategy for Queensland to 2032
    • Queensland's Big Build
    • Queensland Critical Minerals Strategy 

How can the SWAO assist me?

The SWAO can assist employers, industry groups and government agencies to:

    • navigate and understand Australian Government information and resources on visa pathways
    • connect with skilled migrants
    • deliver campaigns that promote Queensland as a destination to attract critically needed skilled workers
    • lead Queensland Government’s consultation with industry on current workforce challenges and approaches to attracting/retaining skilled migrants.
