Understanding your visa options
If you are interested in working and living in Queensland, there are a range of skilled and business visa subclasses to consider. Some visas have different pathways of entry, which are called ‘streams’.
Queensland nomination for these visas is managed by the Queensland Government, through Migration Queensland, in collaboration with the Australian Department of Home Affairs.
Skilled visas
Migration Queensland oversees a skilled visa nomination program that supports our state’s needs for a wide range of skills to enhance its growing economy. We currently nominate for two 2 skilled visa subclasses (subclass 190 and subclass 491).

Business visas
Business visas may also provide opportunities for you to invest in Queensland’s future and support you and your family’s move towards permanent residency.
Migration Queensland assesses permanent visa (subclass 888) nomination applications for applicants who hold a current provisional visa (subclass 188) and meet the relevant nomination criteria.

National Innovation visa (subclass 858)
The National Innovation visa (NIV) is a permanent visa for talented migrants from across the world. These exceptional candidates, with evidence of outstanding achievements, will help create jobs and drive growth in key sectors of the Australian economy.
