Skilled workers currently living outside Australia are referred to as ‘offshore’ candidates.
Who is this pathway for?
If you are a skilled worker living outside Australia, this pathway may be your next step towards working and living in Queensland and contributing to our state’s skilled workforce gaps.
We welcome Registrations of Interest (ROIs) from candidates who meet our nomination requirements.
There is strong interest in Queensland. Nomination places are limited, so please read the information below carefully before submitting.
Are you eligible?
To be considered for Queensland nomination, you will need to meet the requirements of both the Australian Department of Home Affairs and Migration Queensland for your chosen visa.
Australian Government requirements
You may register your interest in Queensland nomination for 2 skilled visas.
The Australian Department of Home Affairs requirements for each visa can be found on their website:
Migration Queensland requirements
Migration Queensland’s minimum nomination requirements are listed in the table below.
Requirement | Eligibility |
---|---|
Occupation | Have an occupation on the Queensland Offshore Skills List. Note that information on employment in Queensland for certain occupations, such as licencing and registration requirements, should be checked on this list. |
Points | Have a score of 65 or higher in the Australian Department of Home Affairs’ points test. |
English | Have at least competent English, according to the Australian Department of Home Affairs definition. |
Work experience | Have at least 1 year’s skilled employment experience in your nominated occupation or a closely related occupation. Only work experience declared as related to your nominated occupation on your Expression of Interest (EOI) to the Australian Department of Home Affairs will be considered. You must still be employed in your nominated occupation (or a closely related occupation) at the time you are invited and nominated. |
Visa subclass | The Queensland Offshore Skills List outlines which visa subclasses you may be nominated for based on your occupation. Certain occupations are only eligible for nomination for the Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491). If you have applied for, or are a current holder of, a Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491), you are not eligible for nomination for the Skilled Nominated (Permanent) visa (subclass 190). This restriction also applies to the Skilled Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 489). |
