Document checklist explanatory notes

If you meet the eligibility criteria and can provide the required supporting documents, you can register your interest in Queensland nomination.

Forms and personal identification documents

Please provide a high-quality colour scan of your passport bio page.

  • The passport number must match the passport number provided in your ROI.

  • If your passport has been renewed since submitting your ROI, provide both the old and new passport bio pages.

This form is available when you receive an invitation from Migration Queensland. Please make sure all the required questions are answered and the form is signed.

Please provide a recent copy of your Visa Entitlement Verification Online (VEVO) statement. This document provides details of your current visa status, conditions and validity.

Occupation

Please provide a valid skills assessment for your nominated occupation.

Some occupations must provide evidence of registration instead. Medical professionals and some allied health workers should provide evidence of current registration, such as registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Solicitors should provide a Certificate of Admission.

Living in Queensland

Please provide one of the following documents showing your name and current Queensland residential address:

  • Residential lease agreement

  • Utility bill (such as an electricity or water bill) issued within the last three months

Bank statements, phone bills and internet bills are not accepted.

If you cannot provide one of the documents listed above, please provide a Commonwealth statutory declaration made by the applicant confirming:

  • your current residential address;

  • the date you commenced residing at that address; and

  • the reason you are unable to provide an accepted form of evidence of residential address.

Work experience

Your evidence of work experience must cover the qualifying work experience period for your selected nomination pathway and visa subclass. This period is calculated by counting backwards from the date you submit your ROI and includes:

    • 9 out of the last 12 months for subclass 190 visa
    • 6 out of the last 9 months for subclass 491 visa
    • 3 continuous months for Building and construction workers pathway
    • 1 year within the last 3 years for Skilled workers living outside Australia (offshore) pathway

Please provide a complete employment contract for all eligible Queensland employment used to satisfy the qualifying work experience period.

  • The contract must show that you work at least 20 paid hours per week in your nominated occupation or a closely related occupation.

  • Please do not include employment contracts for work that is not being used to satisfy the qualifying work experience period requirement.

Please provide payslips for each employer you are relying on to meet the qualifying work experience period.

For each employer, provide up to 3 payslips covering the relevant employment period:

  • one from the beginning of the employment period

  • one from the middle of the employment period, if applicable, and

  • one from the end of the employment period, or the most recent payslip if you are still employed.

If you are relying on short-term employment and cannot provide 3 payslips, provide the payslips available for that period.

For offshore applicants, all supporting documents must be in English. A certified English translation is required for documents that are not originally written in English. English translations completed by the applicant are not accepted.

Example: Single employer

You submitted your ROI on 9 September 2026 for the Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491) under the Skilled workers living in Queensland (onshore) pathway.

The relevant 9-month period is 10 December 2025 to 9 September 2026.

You rely on one continuous employment to meet the requirement of 6 months of qualifying work experience within this 9-month period. To demonstrate this, you must provide:

  • one payslip from March 2026

  • one payslip from June 2026, and

  • the most recent payslip available when you submit your Queensland nomination application.

Example: Multiple employers

You submitted your ROI on 9 September 2026 for the Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190) under the Skilled workers living in Queensland (onshore) pathway.

The relevant 12-month period is 10 September 2025 to 9 September 2026.

You rely on the following employments to meet the requirement of 9 months of qualifying work experience within this 12-month period:

Employment 1: 9 April 2024 to 31 January 2026

Employment 2: 1 April 2026 to current

Only the periods of employment that fall within 10 September 2025 to 9 September 2026 count towards the qualifying work experience period.

For Employment 1, you must provide:

  • one payslip from September 2025

  • one payslip from November 2025 and

  • the final payslip from January 2026.

You do not need to provide payslips dated before 10 September 2025, as they fall outside the qualifying work experience period.

For Employment 2, you must provide:

  • one payslip from April 2026

  • one payslip from June or July 2026, and

  • the most recent payslip available when you submit your Queensland nomination application.

Please provide a copy of the ABN Lookup record for your active Australian Business Number (ABN).

  • If you operate as a sole trader, the ABN Lookup record is sufficient.

  • If your business is registered as a company, you must also provide a Current and Historical Company Extract issued by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC).

If you provide services to more than one client, please submit 3 reference letters from clients or suppliers.

The letters must:

  • be written by the client or supplier acting as the referee

  • be on the client's or supplier's official letterhead

  • include the client's or supplier's contact details

  • be dated within the last 90 days

  • confirm the period during which services were provided

  • describe the services provided, including the scope of work, key tasks performed, and any tools, equipment or software used

  • include the referee's name, position and signature.

Please note: if you are subcontracted to a single client only, provide a completed Statement of Service form signed by an authorised representative of the subcontracting company instead of reference letters.

This form is available on the Documents and forms page. Please provide a completed and signed form for all eligible Queensland employment used to satisfy the qualifying work experience period.

  • The form must be completed and signed by your employer, either by your direct supervisor or a representative of the HR department.

  • If you have worked for more than one employer during the qualifying work experience period, a separate Statement of Service form must be completed by each employer.

  • If you are employed through a labour hire company, your Statement of Service form must be completed by the organisation where you perform your work, rather than the labour hire company.

  • Please ensure that any gaps or interruptions in employment with the employer, including periods of unpaid leave, are declared in the Employment History section of the form.

Please provide employer reference letters for each skilled employment claimed in your Expression of Interest (EOI) as related to your nominated occupation or closely related occupation at the time you submitted your ROI.

The letter/s must:

  • be dated and issued by the employer on the employer's official letterhead

  • include the employer’s contact details

  • confirm the period and location of employment

  • confirm the position/title held and the number of hours worked per week

  • describe the duties performed and the skills involved, including any relevant tools, equipment or software used, and

  • include the referee's name, position and signature.

For current employment, the employer reference letter must be recent and dated no more than one month before the Queensland nomination application is submitted.

All supporting documents must be in English. A certified English translation is required for all supporting documents that are not originally written in English. English translations completed by the applicant are not accepted.

Please provide a statutory declaration outlining the self-employment work history claimed in your EOI for your nominated occupation or closely related occupation at the time you submitted your ROI.

The statutory declaration must be completed in accordance with the legal requirements of the country in which it is made. Self-written statements that are not valid statutory declarations will not be accepted.

The statutory declaration must state:

  • the business name(s)

  • the dates of self-employment claimed

  • the business structure and any changes to the business structure during the period of self-employment claimed (for example, from sole trader to a company with employees)

  • your occupation and role within the business

  • the services provided by the business, and a brief description of the services you personally provided and your key duties, and

  • how the self-employment relates to your nominated occupation or closely related occupation.

Additionally, you must also provide supporting evidence for each year of self-employed work claimed in your EOI. Supporting evidence may include:

  • tax returns demonstrating self-employment income

  • tax invoices, together with bank statements showing payment of the invoiced amount, and/or

  • letters of reference from clients for work performed during the self-employment period claimed.

If you have more than 10 years of related self-employment, please only provide evidence for the most recent 10 years, as this is the maximum period of work experience that can be claimed in an EOI.

All supporting documents must be in English. A certified English translation is required for all supporting documents that are not originally written in English. English translations completed by the applicant are not accepted.

Please provide 3 tax invoices covering the qualifying work experience period for your selected nomination pathway and visa subclass, along with the corresponding bank statements showing payment for each invoice.

You must provide:

  • one tax invoice from the beginning of the qualifying work experience period

  • one tax invoice from the middle of that period

  • one recent tax invoice issued within 30 days before submitting your Queensland nomination application

  • If you are an offshore self-employed applicant who is no longer working in your nominated occupation or a closely related occupation at the time of your nomination application, one tax invoice from the end of the qualifying work experience period

  • bank statements showing payment for each of the above invoices. Please provide the first page of the relevant bank statement together with the page showing the corresponding payment and highlight the payment. Full bank statements are not required.

Example: Self-employed (onshore)

You submitted your ROI on 9 September 2026 for the Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190) under the Building and construction workers pathway.

The relevant qualifying work experience period is 10 June 2026 to 9 September 2026.

You rely on self-employment to meet the requirement of 3 continuous months of qualifying work experience immediately before submitting your ROI. To demonstrate this, you must provide:

  • one tax invoice from June 2026

  • one tax invoice from July 2026

  • one recent tax invoice issued within 30 days before submitting your Queensland nomination application, and

  • corresponding bank statements showing payment for each invoice.

Example: Self-employed (offshore)

You submitted your ROI on 9 September 2026 for the Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190) under Skilled workers living outside Australia (offshore) pathway.

The relevant 3-year period is 10 September 2023 to 9 September 2026. Tax invoices must cover one year of work experience in your nominated occupation or closely related occupation during the 3-year period.

You rely on 1 year of self-employment from 1 July 2024 to 30 June 2025 to meet this requirement. To demonstrate this, you must provide:

  • one tax invoice from July 2024

  • one tax invoice from January 2025

  • one tax invoice from June 2025, and

  • corresponding bank statements showing payment for each invoice.

For offshore applicants, all supporting documents must be in English. A certified English translation is required for all supporting documents that are not originally written in English. English translations completed by the applicant are not accepted.
